JENSEN, Grant Lamar: Age 87, of Penticton, BC passed away peacefully on April 1, 2015 at Moog and Friends Hospice House. Born in Cardston, Alberta, he was the oldest son of Heber and Hattie Jensen. Grant is survived by his brother Lee Jensen (Louise), sisters Maureen Jensen Woolf (Bill) and Beth Jensen Durfey. He also had many nieces and nephews. Grant was predeceased by a brother Gordon Kent Jensen and a sister Fay Jensen Law. Grant enjoyed his life and touched the lives of all who knew him, and was well loved for his humour, generous spirit, compassion and thoughtfulness. He enjoyed literature, good music and fine food, with his favourite dessert being chocolate ice cream. Grant also had a special fondness for dogs, which he kept by his side as a companion in his senior years. There will be no memorial service. GOODMAN, Carol Grace: 1933 - 2015. Passed away on Sunday April 5, 2015, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband Ted, her daughters Carolyn (Tim), and Louise (Richard); her grandchildren Leah (Kellen), Travis, Jesse, Brantley (Darcie), and Alex; and her great-grandson Xander. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Abby in 2006. Carol was a school teacher, and began her teaching career in Ontario in the late 1950's. She and her husband Ted moved to the Okanagan in 1964 and she taught for the Central Okanagan School District until her retirement in 1998. She loved to quilt, knit, play the piano, and cook. Carol will be remembered for her loving and generous heart, and her love for her family. She will be sadly missed. The family will hold a private memorial for Carol at a later date. JOHNSON, Dr. George Allison: Oct. 11 1934 - March 28 2015. Born and resided 6 yrs in Vancouver then moved to Squamish. Obtained his Bachelor of Science at UBC then on to the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario. Obtained his degree 1962 while employed with the Canadian Military, posted 3 yrs. at Whitehorse and 2 yrs. in Calgary. Leaving the service as a Captain he made Kelowna his permanent home in 1967. In 1970 he and his wife Terri started the building of a cabin at Headwaters Lk#2 where the family spent many cherished weekends. In 1981 his desire to be on the ocean, seen him build an unsinkable 22 ft. boat. In 2008 they moved to Headwaters in their last remaining 6 yrs. in the great Okanagan, remodelling the cabin. June of 2014 they moved to Sherwood Park, AB to be near family and spending what would remain his last sunny days. George will be dearly missed. Leaving behind his wife Terri of 57 yrs. Daughter Debra (Jerry) Brittany and Tyson. Sons Glenn and Gary (Jim). Hild, Walter (Wally): Dec 20, 1946 - Apr 7, 2015 Wally passed away with family by his side at Surrey Memorial Hospital. He will be dearly missed by his wife Caroline, son Christopher (Yvette, Henny-granddaughter), daughter Jodi (Damon Calderwood, Riley-grandson), sister Anne (Percy) Palmer, brother Wolfgang (Corine) Hild, brother Conrad (Barbara) Hild, sister Carolyn (Rudy) Hahn, many nieces and nephews, and friends. Shaw, Loris Ann: Jul 26, 1932 - Apr 8, 2015 Loris Ann Shaw, 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep at The Hamlets in Penticton April 8, 2015. The only daughter of Doris and Lorne Burke, she was predeceased by her husband Dennis and brother Brian (Marion), and is survived by her brothers Larry (Shirlee) of Edmonton, Denis (Carmen) of Victoria, and Kevin (Kathy) of Prince Albert (Humboldt, SK), her children Mike (Meg) of Penticton, Missy of Sunnyvale, CA, John (Miriam) of Savona, Lisa (Pat) of Tappen, Sue (Nigel) of West Kelowna, Gerry of Kamloops, ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a chosen grandchild, Melina. Born in Saskatoon, she moved to Vancouver Island after her marriage, where she had a long career as a legal secretary. Amongst her many loves was gardening, playing Scrabble with her friend Sally, and listening to classical music and opera. A celebration of her life will take place in Penticton in August.

ROADHOUSE, Robert (Bob) Leslie: 1940 - 2015 With sadness we announce that Robert (Bob) Roadhouse passed away April 10, 2015 at the Moog & Friends Hospice House in Penticton at the age of 75. He was born in Penticton on February 07, 1940. He really loved Penticton and spent his whole life here. One of his favorite activities was swimming so almost every nice summer day you could find him at the beach at Skaha or Okanagan Lake. He also enjoyed walking and stopping for coffee with friends. He is survived by his brother Richard (Doris) of Calgary and his sister-in-law Louise of Kelowna. At his request there will be no funeral service. The family wish to thank Dr. J. FAIRBURN, James (Jimmy) Edgar: Born Sept 12, 1927, Regina Sask., went to be with the Lord March 28, 2015. Predeceased by his parents and 10 brothers & sisters. Survived by wife Mavis, son Ronald (Vickie Coy), beloved granddaughter Tanya (Cory) and great grandchildren Ashley, Carson & Piper. Jimmie had many passions in life, including of course his time with the Penticton Vees hockey team (World Champs '55), golf, curling and his love for Penticton and its people he came in contact with through his many occupations. He also enjoyed teaching children to skate and taking Tanya to DQ when she was young, almost daily. Thank you to all the people who helped care for Jimmy at Village by the Station, his doctors, as well as the home care workers, and staff at Summerland Sr. Village in his last days. BRANT, Wilma Grace "Billie": Billie Brant passed away peacefully on April 11,2015 in Kelowna B.C. Billie was predeceased by her loving husband Warren and is survived by her loving family; children, Gary (Barb), Jeff (Barb), Nancy Bourdon, Wendy (Kevin) Birnie; grandchildren, Chris, Susan, Jeremy, Ryan, Alex, Cole, Spencer and Jennifer; her twin sister Betty Frith, three great grandchildren; extended family, and many great friends. Billie was very involved with the Vancouver Gyro Club and shared many friendships throughout District IV for over 40 years. She was a longtime member of the Engineer Wives (president 1971-72) and a member of the Lions Gate Hospital Auxiliary. Billie was a wonderful homemaker and mother and lived life to its fullest right until the end. She will always be remembered for her infectious smile and her sunny disposition. EISEN, Judith Ann (Richards): Born January 9th 1956 in Toronto Ontario; passed away suddenly April 7th 2015 at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon. Judy is survived by her loving husband Douglas Eisen of Fox Valley; daughter and son-in law Crystal and Travis Hilton and two beautiful granddaughters Emily and Tayla Hilton all from New Zealand. Her grand girls were the light of her life. Sister in-law and Brother In-law Merna and Roger Prevost of Redcliff Ab; Sister in-law Darlene Eisen; Mother In-law Sheila Eisen of Redcliff AB; Niece's Leslie-Ann (Bradley)Jensen; Rhonda Draeger; Nephews Brian(Angie) Cook; Derek (Corena) Usher; Dustin (Kerry) Usher and numerous great nieces and nephews. PICKETT, Jim: 1951 - 2015. After an inspiring fight against Hodgkin's Lymphoma, Jim Pickett, age 63, passed away peacefully on the evening of April 10, surrounded by family and loved ones. Jim was born to Don and Dorothy Pickett on December 11, 1951 in Taber, AB. In 1989, he moved with his wife and children to Kelowna, BC, where he lived until last year. Jim was a caring, intelligent man with an incredible sense of humour. He was a committed father and extremely proud of his daughters Chelsea and Breanna, and son Jadon. He often referred to them as his greatest achievements in life. Jim is survived by his parents, three children, brother Bill Pickett (Susan), sister Dawna (Pickett) Bilko, nephew Blair Pickett, niece Anali (Dmitri) Reizvikh, and friend and former wife Wendy Miller. Special thanks to extended family and many caring friends who supported Jim through his battle against cancer over the last year, including: Mike Dunne, Aaron Kolk, the Roelofs family, Dennis Smith and staff and physicians at Jack Addy and Tom Baker Cancer Centres and the Chinook Regional Hospital. ROBINS, Lois Sharon (Turner): 1931 - 2015 Lois Sharon Robins died peacefully on April 12, 2015 at the age of 84 from complications of diabetes, which she managed for 67 years. Born in Edam Saskatchewan, she spent her formative years in Trail BC and has lived in Penticton for 59 years. Known for her wit and public speaking talents she was a writer and poet. Her prose could be found in the Penticton Herald and other local newspapers, as well as being included in several published anthologies. She published two collections of poetry. Lois gave back to her community as a member of Jaycettes (JCI), the Penticton Peach Festival, and was a founding member of the White Cane Club in Penticton and later a board member of CNIB. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Ladies of the Nile (Shriners). She is survived by her husband Alan, brother Gilbert (Jan), sister-in-law Doreen, daughter Sharon (Terry), and son Chris, grandchildren Lisa (Tim) and Cameron, great grandson Logan, nieces; Margaret, Rhonda, Tera and nephews Gary, Bill, Michael & Greg. A private family celebration of her life will follow at a later date. SINOTTE, Major Vaughn K., C.D.: Vaughn went to be with the Lord after a long battle with cancer on April 13, 2015 in Kelowna, BC. Vaughn was born in Kingston, Ont. on September 13, 1964 and received his elementary, intermediate, and high school education in Calgary, Alta., Salmon Arm, B.C. and La Ronge, Sask. He attended the U of S graduating with a B. Comm LB in l989. Vaughn practiced law for 10 years in Saskatoon, Sask. and Kelowna, B.C. while commencing a long career with the Primary Reserve Component of the Canadian Armed Forces serving part and full time. He began his Military Career in 1991 with the North Saskatchewan Regiment and upon moving to Kelowna in 1994, he joined the British Columbia Dragoons where he served as Operations Officer and Regimental Adjutant. Vaughn was deployed to Bosnia in 2003-2004 as a Liaison Officer and later in his career was Deputy Commanding Officer for Regional Cadet Support Unit North in Whitehorse, YT. He completed his career as a Plans Officer at 39 Canadian Brigade Group in Vancouver. Vaughn's honors and awards include the Canadian Decoration, NATO medal for operations in the Balkans and the Canadian Peace Keeping Service Medal. Vaughn was a tremendous mentor, planner and leader and he touched many lives in a positive way. Vaughn is survived by his wife Susan, mother Ellen Norris, father Rick (Cece) Sinotte, sisters Christine (Sam) Blacklock and Jillian Sinotte (Tyler Donner), brothers Ryan (Erin Neall) Sinotte, Patrick (Crystal Naka) Sinotte and and step-brothers Lyle (Cathy) Hill and Alan Hill. Also survived by his father-in-law Leon Cairns and sisters-in-law Bonnie (Rob) Raisbeck, Marilyn (Brent) Donald, and Michele Cairns (Brad Smith) as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends. A special thanks to the staff at the Central Okanagan Hospice House for their amazing care. A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 18th, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at the Cathedral of St. Michael and All Angels, followed by a reception at the Brigadier Angle Armouries on Richter Street. Marie Josephine Ethelreda Greig (nee Buhman) - 86 passed away suddenly on April 2, 2015 in Penticton Hospital after a serious fall. Marie, formerly from Nelson was predeceased by her husband Wilson Greig October 17, 2001. Marie, born in Elk Point, Alberta September 27, 1928 grew up in Kelowna but spent over 50 years in her beloved Nelson where she worked as a legal secretary for George Kirby and Hamilton, Brown, Nasmyth & Co. until she retired. She volunteered countless hours with the Kinettes, Nelson Streetcar Society, IODE Thrift Shop and Jubilee Manor Society until her move to Penticton in 2010. She is survived by her children Willene (Axel) Hasenkox of Kaleden, Chelan Greig of Penticton, Garland (Theresa) Greig of 70 Mile House, Grandchildren Kyle (Sara) Hasenkox, Kurt Hasenkox & Kelsey (Jameson) Harrington, Dustin Greig, Kaylee Greig and Cody Greig. She was blessed with three great grandchildren, Rylie Harrington, Sean Hasenkox and Austin Greig. She is also survived by her sister and best friend Marguerite (LRoy) Strong, brother Wally (Evelyn) Buhman, sisters Hilda Deglow & Louise Howell and many nieces and nephews. No funeral service will be held at her request, however an internment in Nelson will be held at a future date. Her passion for law never ceased - she followed all of the breaking news law stories and kept up to date on every case imaginable. Her tireless passion for knitting resulted in thousands of the finest Barbie doll outfits created and donated and hundreds of knitted newborn caps for the local hospitals. Her incredible endless sense of humour carried us through her final days and will be remembered through so many stories. Her mischievous & joyous nature will be missed by so many, including the staff and residents of Sun Village Retirement Centre who she kept entertained and in turn enjoyed their company. She was a kind friend to so many and the best Mom imaginable.
