RUSSELL, Myrtle Irene: Myrtle Irene Russell was born on October 6th1940 in Dodsland, Saskatchewan, the second child of George and Janet Daniels who farmed in the Plenty area of Western Saskatchewan. Throughout Myrtle's life, family was always the very most important part of her life and in the end it was the single greatest accomplishment of her being: she was selfless when it came to her family. Upon completion of school, Myrtle moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where she met Ron Russell. They knew each other four years before they were married at the United Church in Plenty, Saskatchewan on April 6th, 1963. Ron was a banker and they moved often with his work. Together they lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba (1963-1966); and multiple places in Saskatchewan: Saskatoon (1969-1970, 1984-2004), Yorkton (1970-1971), Regina (1971-1979), and Eston (1979-1984). Between 1966 and 1969 there was an interruption to banking where they farmed together with Myrtle's parents near Plenty, Saskatchewan. After Ron's retirement from the bank in 1998 they continued to live on an acreage in Saskatoon until 2004 when they moved to Okanagan Falls, and subsequently in 2011 to Penticton, B.C. In September of 2011, Myrtle was diagnosed with breast cancer and continued to live each day fully until her death on March 24th, 2015. She is survived by her husband Ron and children: Douglas (Nancy) and their children Lauren, Jessica, and Sara; Brenda Hallworth (Dave) and their children Sam and Grace; and Jim (Sandy) and their child Codie; and brother Robert Daniels. She was predeceased by her parents George and Janet Daniels and infant grandchildren Jamie Maitland Hallworth and Alexandrea Faith Hallworth. Myrtle had a significant and special relationship with her husband, children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Megan Kimberley, Dr. James Johnston, the B.C. Cancer Clinic in Kelowna and all the staff at Moog and Friends Hospice House. In lieu of flowers the family would like to request that any donations be directed to Moog and Friends Hospice House in Penticton or a humane society.
